The WELL Building Standard is a performance-based system for measuring, certifying, and monitoring features of the built environment that impact human health and wellbeing, through air, water, nourishment, light, fitness, comfort, and mind. With employee safety, health and wellbeing top priorities in the post COVID-19 return, we believe that the standard will become a key driver.
The Platinum Facilities team can assess buildings against measurable criteria:
- AIR (promoting clean air and reducing or minimising sources of indoor air pollution).
- WATER (in recognition of how quickly even low levels of dehydration are detrimental to human performance, promotion of safe and clean water through the implementation of proper filtration).
- NOURISHMENT (the availability of fresh, nutritious foods and encouraging healthy eating habits).
- LIGHT (providing illumination guidelines that minimise disruption to the body’s circadian rhythms and sleep patterns).
- FITNESS (the integration of physical activity into everyday life by providing opportunities for physical activity and exertion, such as moving away from prolonged periods of sitting at desks and taking the stairs rather than the lift).
- COMFORT (a large field that includes thermal, acoustic, ergonomic, and olfactory comfort to optimise indoor environment, and hence wellbeing and productivity).
- MIND (optimising design, technology, and housing, crowding, noise, indoor air quality and light for the best emotional health).
We can help you benchmark your current performance and develop an approach, with timescales, to ensure that you fully adhere to the standard. You can find out more about our approach and how we can help you here.
